Travel in Style for Less

Many people these days are under the impression that the era of affordable travel is over. Increases in energy costs and decreases in the average person’s disposable income have discouraged some folks from even daring to think about an overseas vacation or any holiday, for that matter, which requires much travel. It’s true that most of us have had to rein in our holiday budgets somewhat over the past few years, but there are still plenty of opportunities for low-cost trips to exotic places if you know where to look. A little creative planning and a bit of research can make a big difference for those who would like to spend their next holiday in more interesting surroundings than a few nights stay at a motel in the nearest big city or a camping trip in some local park.

The truth is, if you avoid the obvious travel destinations during peak tourist season, there are many alternatives that can save you a lot of money, while not having to skimp on luxury. One of the best approaches is to find a destination that is a bit off the beaten path. If you’re willing to visit places that are not as popular or well-known, you can find luxurious accommodations that compare to those in the well-trodden destinations and oftentimes get there for much less travel expense.

A good example might be a country like Bulgaria, which has been rated as one of the best tourism values in the world. It’s possible to fly from London to Bulgaria for well less than 100 euros, and a holiday in a Black Sea resort will cost far less than a stay one of the hotels in Puerto Rico or a room in a Venice hotel. Bulgaria is just one example – there are many out of the way, lesser-known destinations where you can stretch your budget a long way without giving up on comfort or quality.
