Make Your Own Carpet Stain Pretreater

Carpets are not protected of getting stained and when a stain or spill occurs it is important to clean them as soon as possible in order to prevent stains from setting and reaching the carpet pad, where it can be almost impossible to remove. Although there are many professional cleaning services, such as carpet cleaning Parsons Green, and many commercial cleaning products that pretreat and remove stains from carpets, there are also many household products that can be used as homemade pretreaters and stain removers.
To make your own carpet pretrearter, you will need vinegar, baking soda, spray bottle, soft cloth, borax, carpet brush and vacuum cleaner.
The instruction to remove dry stains:

  1. Get a small bowl and mix 1 tbsp. of baking soda and 3 tbsp. of vinegar into it. Wait for the baking soda to get completely dissolved and add 2 cups of water to the mixture. Fill a spray bottle with the mixture.
  2. Spray the solution onto carpet stains and then scrub it into the stain using carpet brush.
  3. Let the cleaner undisturbed for 10 minutes and then blot away the stain and residue using a cloth moistened into water.
  4. Use a dry towel to blot the carpet until it dry.

The instructions to remove wet stains:

  1. Absorb as much liquid as possible using a rag.
  2. Make a muxture of ½ cup of baking soda and ¼ cup of borax.
  3. Cover the stain with generous layer of the solution and let it sit between 30 and 60 minutes. During that time, the mixture will absorb any moisture left.
  4. Use vacuum cleaner to remove the mixture from the carpet.

Using pretreaters helps to get rid of stains quickly and easily. However, some stains are so stubborn that you may feel they will never get out of your carpet no matter how much you are trying. Do not give up, try different cleaning methods and sooner or later the stain will be removed.
