How to Remove Rust Stains from a Carpet

It can be very unpleasant to find a stain on your carpet, especially one that is difficult to remove, such as rust stains. It is not unusual for metal items to leave rust stains on a carpet when exposed to oxygen and water. These rust stains can ruin the appearance of the carpet by making it look old and dingy. Fortunately, there are a few simple techniques to get rid of the rust and restore the look of your carpet. A general rule states that as quickly the stain is tackled as easy it will be to remove. So take care of the stains as soon as possible by following the instructions below.
Lemon Juice ans Salt

  1. Try to remove as much of the rust from the carpet as possible by scraping away the stain with the back of a butter knife.
  2. Apply a mixture of 3 tablespoons of lemon juice and 4 tablespoons of salt directly to the rust stain.
  3. Wait for a few hours, then use a scrub brush to scrub the stain until it is gone.
  4. Dampen a white cloth with water and rinse the area by blotting.

Rubbing Alcohol

  1. Saturate the rust stain with a solution of 1 part rubbing alcohol and 3 parts of water by using a spray bottle to apply the solution to the stained area.
  2. Once the area has been thoroughly saturated, use paper towels to blot the rust stain by starting from the outside of the stain and working inwards as recommended by carpet cleaning Acton.
  3. Repeat the procedure as many times as needed until the stain is removed.

Commercial Rust Remover

  1. Apply a commercial rust remover to the stain by following the manufacturer’s instructions.
  2. Rub the solution into the carpet using a scrub brush, and allow it to sit for 5 minutes.
  3. Press a clean white cloth repeatedly to absorb the commercial product along with the rust.
  4. Use a damp cloth to rinse the area by blotting.
