How to Remove Pet Stains and Odours from a Carpet

Pets can cause quite a mess around the house, leaving to us the hard task to clean that mess. If you have problems getting rid of pet stains and odours from your carpets, you should check the tips a few rows below. There is no need of expensive cleaning products. A simple homemade cleaner would be enough to remove these unpleasant stains and odours, saving you money and preserving the environment toxic-free.
The first step when cleaning fresh pet stains is to handle the moisture. Use paper towels to remove any solid material, then blot the spot to remove the excess moisture using another stack of paper towels.
To make an efficient carpet cleaner, mix 2 cups of white vinegar and ½ gallon of water. Do not worry about the vinegar smell as it will fade quickly. Although, vinegar is safe to carpets, test your solution on a small, hidden area of  your carpet just to be completely sure it won’t cause any damage to the carpet.
Treat the stain by covering it with baking soda and then rubbing it with a sponge soaked in the vinegar solution. Keep in mind that there will be a small amount of fizzing caused by the chemical reaction between the vinegar and the baking soda. This is generally harmless to skin, however, it is advisable to wear rubber gloves in case you have sensitive skin. Wait for the solution to sit on the carpet undisturbed for a few minutes, then use a white towel to scrub the area in order to lift the stain away and absorb the excess moisture. Let the carpet dry completely and then vacuum it thoroughly to remove any residue of your solution.
In most cases, the above cleaning solution will be enough to get rid of pet stains and odours.
