How to Remove Olive Oil Spills

Olive oil is common ingredient in cooking, cosmetics and soaps.  When using olive oil, you can accidentally spill it onto your carpet, upholstery or clothing. Fortunately, you can easily get rid of the nasty olive oil stain by treating the spill as soon as possible. It can be very difficult to remove an olive oil stain if you allow it to dry and set. Here are a few tips that will help you to remove olive oil spill without using commercial cleaning products.
Carpet and Upholstery

  1. Use a spoon to scoop up the excess olive oil from the stained surface.
  2. Spread baking soda directly over the affected area and let it sit on the surface for about  15 minutes. This will allow the baking soda to absorb some of the olive oil that has seeped into the carpet or upholstery.
  3. Vacuum the stained area to remove the baking soda.
  4. Pour a small amount of dry-cleaning solvent on a white cloth, so the cloth is slightly wet, not soaked, as advised by olympic cleaning London experts. Then, blot the olive oil stain with the dampened cloth working from the outer edge of the stain inwards.
  5. If the olive oil stain is still visible, dampen another white cloth in a solution of 1 tablespoon of liquid dish soap, 1 tablespoon of white vinegar and 2 cups of water. Blot at the affected area until the stain is no longer existing.  Use a small bucket to make the solution in it.
  6. Use a clean cloth moistened in cool water to rinse the carpet or upholstery by blotting.
  7. Blot dry with a towel.

  1. Sprinkle a nice layer of baking soda over the olive oil stain and allow the baking soda to absorb the stain for about 10 minutes.
  2. Use water to rinse the baking soda off the clothing, then pour a small amount of liquid dish soap on the stain. Using your fingers, rub the dish soap into the garment for a minute or two.
  3. Mix 5 litres of warm water with ¼ cup of liquid dish soap in a bucket. Saturate the clothing into the mixture for at least two hours, then launder it as usual.
  4. Examine the clothing after washing, and if the olive oil stain is still visible, repeat the process.

Now, with the Olympic games just around the corner, you might want to use olympic cleaning services London to get your home perfectly cleaned in order to enjoy the Games with friends at your place without feeling uncomfortable of some stain on your carpet or smudges on the windows.
