How to Remove Ink Stains from a Carpet

Removing ink stains from a carpet may seem like an unbearable task, but actually they can be effectively removed with common household items. Don’t allow the ink to dry and permanently stain your carpet. The longer the ink stain sits, the more difficult it will get to be removed completely. Act quickly, and save the good appearance of the carpet and the room as well.
Instructions

  1. Absorb as much of the ink as possible with a dry white cloth or paper towels. Spray cool water over the stain using a spray bottle and continue absorbing the ink until no more of it comes out onto the cloth or paper towels.
  2. Dampen a white cloth (not the whole, just a part of it) with isopropyl alcohol. Work the alcohol into the ink stain by dabbing at the stained area with the cloth. Wait for 30 minutes, then pour cool water to rinse the area and blot up the excess moisture with a dry, white towel. Repeat this process until the ink stain is completely removed or stops transferring to your towel.
  3. Mix 2 cups of cool water with 1 teaspoon of liquid dish soap in a spray bottle, and spray the mixture over the ink stain. Use a white cloth or paper towels to blot up the solution from the carpet, then repeat the step. Repeat as many times as needed until no more ink is transferred onto the cloth.
  4. If the stain remains, add 1 teaspoon of glycerin to the soapy solution in the spray bottle. Repeat step 3 with the new solution.
  5. If there is any remaining ink stain, consider using commercial stain remover. Carpet cleaning Holborn team suggests using a stain remover that contains a grease solvent such as petroleum napththa or trichlorethylene. Follow the directions on the product’s label.

Do not over soak your carpet with a cleaning solution when dealing with stains, as this can destroy the carpet padding, according to carpet cleaning Holborn.
