How to Remove Grease Stains from Carpet

There are stains that you never want to face but sometimes it is inevitable. Grease carpet stains are one of those that will make your carpet cleaning chore a real nightmare. However, before you start thinking about hiring professionals such as Clapham cleaners, there is an easy way to remove grease stains from your carpet that requires more time than actual effort.
The thing you will need are plastic utensil, paper towels, baking soda, bleach-free dish soap, clean cloth, isopropyl alcohol, white vinegar and vacuum cleaner.
The instruction in removing grease carpet stains are:

  1. If the stain is fresh then use a paper towels to absorb the greasy liquid, otherwise use a dull plastic utensil to scrape away the dried grease.
  2. Cover the stained area thoroughly with baking soda. You can use cornmeal or baby powder as well.
  3. Wait six hours before vacuuming the powder up. Baking soda absorbs moisture and will help lift the grease out of the carpet fibers.
  4. Rub the stain with a clean, white cloth soaked in isopropyl alcohol. Make sure to rub the stain from outside toward its center in order to prevent it from spreading.
  5. Dip a clean cloth into a solution made of bleach-free dish soap and warm water, and use it to scrub any remaining stain.
  6. Make a mixture of equal parts warm water and white vinegar, and then rinse the area with it using a clean cloth.
  7. Absorb excess moisture with a clean, dry towel and then sprinkle baking soda on the carpet, again.
  8. Use your vacuum cleaner to remove the powder when the area is completely dry.

This method effectively removes grease stains, but it requires some time for it. If your daily schedule doesn’t allow you time to take care of the stain, then you can consider using carpet cleaning Clapham services not just to remove the grease stain, but to clean the entire carpet.
