How to Make Green Carpet Cleaners and Deodorizers

Common household products can be used to make your own cleaners and deodorizers, which unlike the commercial cleaning products, will preserve your home chemical-free. Making your own carpet cleaner or deodorizer is a simple procedure if you know how to do it. Properly done, homamade cleaning solutions are just as effective as the commercial ones, but they are much cheaper than those offered on the market. Here is how to make green carpet cleaners and deodorizers on your own.
Carpet spot remover (each step is a different solution):

  • Mix baking soda with white vinegar until homogeneous paste is formed. Cover the stains with the cleaning solution using an old tooth brush. Wait to dry, then vacuum the paste up. You may need to repeat the process at least twice before the stain is gone, according to cleaners Parsons Green.
  • Use club soda to soak the stain, then blot with white paper towels or cloths until the spot is completely removed.
  • To eliminate grease spots, absorb as much of the grease as possible, then sprinkle a generous amount of baking soda or corn starch on the affected areas. Vacuum the carpet on the next day.

Carpet deodorizer

  1. To remove pet and other odours from your carpet, sprinkle a nice layer of baking soda on the affected area and wait for 15 minutes before vacuuming the carpet as usual.
  2. Make a carpet freshener by mixing 4 cups of baking soda, 25 drops of Rosewood essential oil, 30 drops of Lavender essential oil, and 35 drops of Eucalyptus essential oil in a bowl. This combination of essential oils is suggested by carpet cleaning Parsons Green team, but you can make your own combination of essential oils. Make sure, there are no clumps in the mixture, then sprinkle it on the carpet. Let sit for at least a quarter hour then vacuum the carpet.

Carpet steam cleaning solution

  • Pour equal parts of warm water and white vinegar into the carpet cleaner, then wash the carpet following the manufacturer’s instructions.

Carpet cleaner for pet urine

  • Blot the affected area dry, then apply a cleaning solution of water and white vinegar to the spot. Soak up the excess liquid until the carpet is almost dry, then sprinkle baking soda onto the area and allow it to dry completely overnight. Vacuum up the baking soda in the morning.
