How to Maintain Your Berber Wool Sweater

Despite you like it or not summer season have its end. Moreover, autumn have its end as well. After that comes the cold, dark winter. You can escape from it, but you surely can be prepared for it. Wool garments perfect for the cold seasons not only because its ability to keep warm, but also because they look very stylish. Unfortunately, as many other materials wool require special treatment. Your first step should be to prepare your cleaning tools. To successfully clean your berber wool sweater you will need towels, dawn dish soap and vinegar. After having them stored out you may start the actual cleaning process.

Pour hot water in your sink until it’s filled. It’s good to work with hot water in order to kill all the germs embedded in your sweater fibres. Don’t be afraid of shrinking, you will not cause any.

Pour 1 teaspoon of Dawn dish soap in the hot water and stir well. REMEMBER! Never work with a laundry detergent as it is too harsh for wool treatment!

Place your wool sweater on top of the water and submerge it in to the water. Allow it to soak about two hours. Don’t move or rub or twist the sweater as that will only cause damages on it.

Let the dirty water to flow away and and refill the sink with clean hot water. Leave your berber wool item stand like that for another 20 minutes. After that drain your sink.

Pour a hot water in your sink until it’s filled. Dissolve 1/4 cup of vinegar in it and let your sweater to soak in for about 15 to 20 minutes.

Place a dry towel under and over the wool sweater. Squeeze the sweater or just apply pressure to it in order to remove as much water as you can from the wool fibers. DO NOT rub!After doing that just place your sweater out to air dry.
