How to Get Paint Stains Out of a Carpet

Some of the toughest types of stains to remove from carpeting are caused by paint. There are two types of paint, water and oil based. Water-based paint can be especially hard to remove once it dries, not to say almost impossible, as it adheres to the carpet fibers very strongly. Fortunately, with a proper and prompt treatment, these difficult stains can be successfully remove without needing to replace the entire carpet.
The instructions that carpet cleaning Holborn advises, are:
Water-Based Paint Stains

  1. Make a solution of water and dish soap. The amount of each ingredient depends on you. Use a clean cloth moistened with the soapy solution to scrub the paint stain, working from outside to the centre. Scrub gently to prevent the stain from spreading on other sections of your carpet. Rinse the cloth and continue scrubbing until the stain is gone. Let the area dry, then vacuum up any residual paint.
  2. Combine together 3 tablespoons of OxyClean and 1 gallon of warm water. Dip a clean rag into the mixture and blot at the stained area with it. Use paper towels to soak up the moisture. Repeat the process until no stain remains.
  3. Scrub the stain with rubbing alcohol using a sponge.

Oil-Based Paint Stains

  1. Make a mixture of a gallon of warm water and a scoop of laundry detergent. Soak a clean cloth in the solution, and then place it on the stained area for a couple of hours. Wait for the area to dry and vacuum it. Repeat if needed.
  2. You can use WD-40 to remove paint stains as it will come off the carpet much easier than paint will, according to carpet cleaning Holborn. Apply some WD-40 to the stain and use a clean cloth to scrub until the stain is completely removed.
  3.  Pour some nail-polish remover with acetone on a clean rag and blot at the stained area with it. Use plain water to rinse the area.
