How to Clean Cranberry Juice from Carpet

Cranberry juice has a number of health benefits. It helps preventing urinary tract infections, cancer and kidney stones. Although beneficial to the body, cranberry juice leaves unsightly red stains on carpet that ruin the appearance of the carpet. It penetrates into the carpet fibers and forms permanent stains if neglected. Treat cranberry juice stains quickly to restore carpet’s look. Fortunately, there are many techniques to remove successfully cranberry juice from carpet, and here is what St John’s Wood cleaners suggest:

  1. The thing that you will need are 2 containers, white paper towels, liquid hand soap, liquid ammonia, white cloths and an absorbent white towel.
  2. Here are the instructions to get cranberry juice out of carpet:
  3. Use white paper towels to draw out all excess cranberry juice.
  4. Make a stain dissolving solution by mixing 1tablespoon of liquid hand soap and 2 cups of cold water into a container.
  5. Moisten a white cloth in the solution and use it to blot the cranberry stain until no more juice transfers onto the cloth.
  6. Allow the soapy solution to sit for 15 minutes to loosen the stain.
  7. Use a second dry white cloth to remove all excess solution from the carpet.
  8. If the red stain is still visible, combine 1 tablespoon of liquid ammonia with 2 cups of warm water in another container.
  9. Use a third white cloth moistened with the ammonia solution to blot the red stain until no more cranberry juice is left on the carpet.
  10. Wet a fourth white cloth with cold water and use it to rinse all ammonia and soap out of the carpet.
  11. Extract moisture by pressing an absorbent white towel over the treated area.

If you don’t have any available liquid ammonia, you can use vinegar as substitute. St John’s Wood cleaners recommends avoiding the use of colourful paper towels as they can transfer dyes on carpet.
