Green Cleaning Tips for Removing Coffee Stains

Coffee is a common source of stains on clothes or carpets. A coffee spill can easily ruin your carpet, your favourite table cloth or even your clothes, but there is no need to panic and buy an expensive stain-remover. Next time you spill some of your favourite caffeine drink, try one of the following tips suggested by Acton cleaners:

  • The best natural coffee remover so far is milk. Soak the stain in cold milk and let it sit for at least half an hour. Then blot the stain with a clean towel and wash as normal. Repeat the procedure if you are not satisfied with the result and make sure you don’t heat the fabric if the stain is still present. This could make it set faster an become almost impossible to remove.
  • Club soda also works well on coffee stains. The carbon dioxide pushes coffee molecules up to the surface of the fabric. Use the same technique as with milk.
  • Another natural coffee remover is glycerin. Apply it on the fabric to cover the stained area thoroughly. Wait for half an hour and rinse with warm water. Repeat if needed.
  • A mixture of mild soapy water and a spoon of rubbing alcohol is also a good home-made coffee spot remover. It is better to use a simple soap with neutral Ph level. Just dissolve it in some clean water, Apply on the stain and rub carefully. Then rinse with clean warm water.
  • The most important tip for removing coffee stains is to treat them as soon as possible. If you let them dry and set in you might have to use carpet cleaning Acton services to save your carpet or clothes.

Be careful when using commercial stain removing products as most of them contain strong chemicals which could be harmful for your health and for the environment. As you know there is a green cleaning solution for any problem. Feel free to experiment with them and choose the one that suits you best.
