Get Rid of the Red Wine Stain in Your Carpet

Spilled wine causes one of the worst imaginable stains. Red wine stains are not only hard to remove, but also very noticeable and unsightly, especially on light coloured carpets. Fortunately, with a little effort and the right cleaning method, these stains can be successfully removed no matter whether it is a fresh stain, or a stain that has set. Follow these tips to successfully get rid of the red wine stain in your carpet.
Blot fresh stains as soon as possible to prevent the wine from seeping deep into the carpet. Use clean, dry, white cloth to absorb as much liquid as you can. Do not rub as this will only spread the stain even more. Rotate the cloth while blotting so a clean portion of the rag to be exposed when the previous one becomes dirty. Once you have lifted as much of the stain as possible, proceed with the actual treatment of the stain. Skip the blotting process if the stain is already set in.
Mix 1 cup of hydrogen peroxide and 1 teaspoon of dish liquid in a plastic bowl. Stir well, then blot the solution into the wine stain with a clean, white cloth. Blot repeatedly using clean parts of your cloth until the stain is gone. If the stain has dried, you may need some more time to remove it completely.
When the wine stain is eliminated, you need to rinse out any residue. Use warm water and another cloth to blot up the cleaning solution from the carpet. Squeeze out the excess moisture from the cloth before dabbing at the area to prevent soaking the carpet. Once you have removed the residue, let the carpet dry completely.
