Keep applying until the stain is completely gone, then rinse the treated area with water.

Lacquer carpet stains are also very hard to remove. First remove as much of the material by scrapping it off with a dull knife. Lacquer stains can be removed with rubbing alcohol. Apply some on a clean cloth or towel and blot the stain with that cloth. You can rub the spot if it is on the surface of the carpet. But use one direction motions, instead of circular motions when removing the stain. Circular motions can damage the fabrics of the carpet.
