Cambridge Colleges

Cambridge is one fascinating destination, famous all over the world with its reputed educational facilities. Thousands of young people from almost everywhere are dreaming whole their lives for the opportunity to study there.

However, if you are not a student but a tourist who wants to stay in some of the hotels in Cambridge, because you want to explore the city and its treasures, city’s colleges are such landmarks that you do not have to miss to include in your schedule, when you are there. Those historic buildings will take your breath away with its magnificent architecture and unique creative atmosphere. There are about 30 Cambridge colleges so, here is some information about few of them, that you would find interesting to visit during your stay in the city.

  1. St. John’s College or also known as The College of Saint John the Evangelist of the University of Cambridge was opened in 1511 and it is a major city’s attraction. Nine Nobel Prize winners, six Prime Minister, few princes, three archbishops and Saints are just a small part of the knowledgeable people who took their high educational degree from that reputed facility. Also, there is placed one of the city’s most famous landmark, the Bridge of Sighs. The college is situated on John’s Street and has over 800 students. Moreover, some interesting attractions that you could also see there are: the Great Gate, the First Court, College Chapel, North Court, Chapel Court, the College Library, etc.
  2. Trinity College is another famous academic facility, placed in Cambridge. Built in 1546 and now it has more students than any other college in the area, over 1300. That incredible educational institution is considered as the greatest one of all Cambridge colleges. Moreover, many members of the Royal family took their education in this college, such as Prince Charles, King Edward VII, Prince Henry of Gloucester, Prince William of Gloucester, etc. There, you can visit historic buildings like the King’s Hostel, Great Court, Bishop’s Hostel, Wren Library, etc.
  3. Jesus College is another prestigious Cambridge College that you must visit during your stay in the city. It was established in 1496 and it is famous with its Chapel, also known as Jesus Chapel.So, book in advance some of the Cambridge hotels and go there to visit its outstanding academic institutions which are one of the most desired destination for future undergraduates from all over the world.
