A Stay At the Big Blue Hotel, Blackpool

It’s not often that I get the chance to stay in a 4-star hotel, nor do I usually venture to the northern parts of England, but my company decided they could afford me both of these new experiences for my stay for a business meeting. Ok, I admit I was expecting one of the usual chintzy seaside affairs for my place of residence, with 70s decor, spiralling staircases and certainly no sea view. I am delighted to tell you that I could not have been more wrong’ the Big Blue Hotel can certainly be described as contemporary, with its lavishly modern decor and facilities, all available at reasonable prices (which I had the luxury of not paying!)

Usually my company would offer us one of those golf holiday deals, but seeing as golf is rarely my thing, this time I felt like I’d hit the jackpot. I can’t think of a single direct complaint to make about the hotel, apart from that my company bizarrely seemed to have chosen it over some of the other more business-suited hotels in the area. That’s not to say that the Big Blue Hotel isn’t built for business, it’s more that this place has an obviously family-friendly vibe and demographic. There were plenty of kids around, which worried me on my first night as I had an early meeting the following morning, but I didn’t hear so much as a single peep out of these kids in the middle of the night, much to my relief. I think that next time I’m considering a family break, I will definitely check out this place again, along with the other many Blackpool hotel deals available. This place would be a particularly good choice for families as it’s pretty close to most of the great many rides and pleasure beaches that Blackpool has to offer, which I sadly did not get to visit on my business trip. I really hope my company liked it as much as I did, so they’ll consider this place again instead of one of those golf holiday deals.
