3 Everyday Products You Can Use for Deodorising

How do you deodorise your homes? You probably use aerosols, don’t you? Do you know that they are dangerous for the environment and for your health? Do you know what to replace them with? Read on to learn.

Most people deodorise their places with aerosols, which they buy from supermarkets. What they don’t know, though, is that aerosols pollute the air we breathe and damage the ozone layer. Moreover, most of these products have strong floral or citrus aromas, which are sometimes smothering. It can be very dangerous for people suffering from asthma or other respiratory diseases. That is why Cleaner London recommends to avoid the use of aerosol deodorisers, and offers a list of three everyday products which you can use for removing bad odours. Here it is:

The most popular of the three products is baking soda. It is mainly used for cooking, but it has cleaning properties as well. Mixed with vinegar, salt and water it even removes stains, but that’s not the topic now. If your carpet smells bad, sprinkle baking soda all over it in the evening and vacuum in the morning. Leave an open box of bicarbonate of soda in your smelly fridge and in the morning the odour will be gone. When you go on a holiday, leave an open box of bicarb in every room to prevent the smell of still air, moisture or mould.

The next suggestion of Cleaner London is cornstarch. It has the same deodorising properties like baking soda and can be used in the same situations listed above. It doesn’t remove stains, though.

Lemons – quite unusual, but they are good deodorisers, too. When you are not going to be at home for a long time, cut a few lemons in halves and leave one in every room. The fruits will absorb any odour while you’re missing, and when you come back your house will smell of citruses. The same technique can be used for deodorising cupboards and refrigerators.

I hope these tips are useful to you. And remember – try to use as less chemical-based cleaning products as possible. Your environment will be a lot healthier.
